What's inside and why it matters
Zinc as Zinc Oxide Gluconate (4mg, 36% DV) — A blend of zinc forms providing 36% DV per tablet. Zinc is included as an essential cofactor for multiple enzyme systems involved in normal immune function, antioxidant defence (Cu/Zn-SOD), and wound healing — directly complementing the systemic enzyme activity of this formula.*
Pancreatin 8X (225mg per tablet) — Pancreatin at 8X concentration providing Amylase 45,000 USP, Lipase 7,425 USP, and Protease 45,000 USP per tablet. When taken away from food in the fasted state, pancreatic proteases are absorbed and contribute to systemic inflammatory balance via fibrinolytic and protein-modulating mechanisms.*
Chymotrypsin (75 USP/mg, 5mg per tablet) — A pancreatic serine protease that, when absorbed systemically, supports normal inflammatory balance — particularly via its ability to support normal fibrin degradation in inflamed tissue. Chymotrypsin is one of the classic systemic enzyme components in European enzyme therapy.*
Trypsin Extract 1:75 (75 USP/mg, 38mg per tablet) — The second pancreatic serine protease in this formula. Systemic trypsin activity is associated with normal fibrinolytic support, healthy kinin metabolism (bradykinin degradation), and normal inflammatory protein clearance. The combination of trypsin and chymotrypsin mirrors the established European systemic enzyme therapy formulation approach.*
Bromelain (1,800 MCU/g, 325mg per tablet) — At 325mg of 1,800 MCU/g bromelain, this provides 585,000 MCU of bromelain activity per tablet — a very substantial systemic enzyme dose. Bromelain is one of the most extensively researched systemic proteolytic enzymes for normal inflammatory balance, supporting normal fibrinolytic activity, normal bradykinin degradation, normal prostaglandin modulation, and healthy circulation.*
Papain (3,000 USP/mg, 360mg per tablet) — The highest-dosed enzyme by weight at 360mg, providing 1,080,000 USP of papain activity per tablet. Papain — derived from papaya latex — is a broad-spectrum cysteine protease active across a wide pH range that, as a systemic enzyme, supports normal inflammatory protein modulation and healthy clearance of damaged protein debris from tissues.*
Rutin 95% from Japanese Sophora flower bud (65mg per tablet) — High-purity (95%) rutin at 65mg per tablet. Rutin is a bioflavonoid glycoside specifically included in systemic enzyme formulas because it significantly enhances the bioavailability and absorption of bromelain from the intestine — a clinically validated pairing. Rutin also independently contributes antioxidant protection and normal capillary integrity.*
Lysozyme (950 MCG/mg, 10mg per tablet) — The most distinctive and unique ingredient in this formula. Lysozyme is a natural antimicrobial enzyme found in egg whites, tears, and mucus — one of the body's primary innate immune defence proteins. It catalyses the hydrolysis of peptidoglycan in bacterial cell walls, disrupting the structural integrity of bacterial cell walls and supporting normal innate antimicrobial immune defence.*
In the context of Priority Zyme™, lysozyme provides antimicrobial immune support that complements the anti-inflammatory enzymatic activity of the other ingredients — addressing both the inflammatory response and the microbial component that often drives it. Contains egg (lysozyme).*
Cellulase (20,000 CU/g, 2mg per tablet) — Cellulase provides 40,000 CU of cellulase activity per tablet. Cellulase is a fungal enzyme capable of hydrolyzing cellulose — the structural polysaccharide of plant cell walls and certain microbial biofilm components — supporting normal biofilm disruption and healthy microbial environment.*
