Probiotic Blend 50B — 50 Billion CFU, Seven-Strain Lactobacillus & Bifidobacterium Multi-Strain Probiotic with FOS Prebiotic

Probiotic Blend 50B delivers a comprehensive seven-strain probiotic formula providing 50 billion CFU (colony forming units) at time of encapsulation across a broad and complementary selection of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium species. Inulin (FOS — fructooligosaccharides) is included as a prebiotic to selectively nourish the probiotic organisms and support their establishment and colonisation.*

Fully vegetarian capsule (hypromellose and pectin). 1 capsule per serving, 60 vegetarian capsules per bottle.

What's inside and why it matters

50 Billion CFU Total Probiotic Activity at Time of Encapsulation — The 50 billion CFU count is provided across 177.5mg of a seven-strain probiotic blend. Refrigeration after opening is recommended to maintain maximum viability.*

Lactobacillus Acidophilus — The most extensively studied probiotic species, naturally colonising the small intestine and vaginal tract. L. Acidophilus produces lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and bacteriocins that support a healthy microbial environment, promotes normal intestinal barrier integrity, and has been studied in published research for a wide range of normal digestive and immune function outcomes.*

Lactobacillus plantarum — One of the most versatile and resilient Lactobacillus species — capable of surviving in diverse GI environments and colonising along the entire intestinal tract. L. plantarum produces high levels of lactic acid and antimicrobial peptides, supports normal intestinal barrier function, and is one of the most studied species for normal inflammatory balance in the gut.*

Bifidobacterium bifidum — A primary coloniser of the large intestine, particularly important in early life and increasingly relevant as populations of Bifidobacterium decline with age. B. bifidum produces acetate and lactate as fermentation products, supports normal gut barrier function, and is one of the primary producers of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) that nourish colonocytes.*

Bifidobacterium lactis — One of the most researched Bifidobacterium species for immune function and digestive support. B. lactis has been studied in multiple published clinical trials for its role in supporting normal immune cell activity, healthy bowel transit time, and normal gut microbiome balance.*

Lactobacillus bulgaricus — One of the original probiotic organisms — historically used in Bulgarian yoghurt production and one of the first bacteria studied for probiotic benefits. L. bulgaricus produces high levels of lactic acid, supporting the acid environment that inhibits pathogenic microorganisms, and works synergistically with other Lactobacillus species in the gut.*

Lactobacillus rhamnosus — Widely considered one of the most clinically studied individual probiotic strains in the world, with extensive research for digestive and immune health. L. rhamnosus is particularly noted for its strong adherence to intestinal epithelial cells, good acid and bile tolerance, and clinical research supporting normal gut microbiome balance and healthy digestive outcomes.*

Lactobacillus reuteri — A naturally colonising Lactobacillus species found in the human gut and breast milk, with a distinctive profile including the production of reuterin — an antimicrobial compound with broad activity against gut pathogens. L. reuteri has been studied for its role in supporting normal gut inflammatory balance and healthy gastrointestinal microbiome.*

Inulin (FOS — Fructooligosaccharides, included as Other Ingredient) — Inulin is a naturally occurring prebiotic fructooligosaccharide derived from chicory root. FOS is selectively fermented by beneficial bacteria — particularly Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus species — in the large intestine. The inclusion of inulin alongside the probiotic organisms makes this formula a synbiotic — the prebiotic nourishes the probiotic strains from encapsulation through colonisation. Inulin also independently supports normal stool consistency and healthy bowel transit.*

Seven strains — why multi-strain matters

No single probiotic strain colonises the entire gastrointestinal tract or addresses all mechanisms of gut microbiome support. Probiotic Blend 50B covers the primary intestinal habitats (small intestine via Lactobacillus species; large intestine via Bifidobacterium species), multiple probiotic mechanisms (lactic acid production, antimicrobial peptide production, SCFA production, immune modulation, barrier support), and a range of clinical research bases — providing more complete microbiome support than any single-strain formula at equivalent CFU.*

At a glance — what this formula supports

  • Normal gut microbiome balance via 7 complementary probiotic strains*
  • Normal digestive function, healthy bowel regularity & stool consistency*
  • Normal immune function via gut-immune axis support*
  • Selective prebiotic support for probiotic colonisation via FOS inulin*
  • Normal intestinal barrier integrity via Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium activity*
  • Comprehensive microbiome support across small and large intestinal habitats*
