Myoceram® RPS is a proprietary rice germ extract providing naturally occurring ceramides in the glucosylceramide form — the primary ceramide precursor found in rice and other plant sources.*
What are ceramides? Ceramides are a family of lipid molecules that are the most abundant component of the skin's outer barrier layer — the stratum corneum. They form a "mortar" between the skin's surface cells (corneocytes), sealing the spaces between them and maintaining the skin's ability to retain moisture. The stratum corneum typically contains approximately 50% ceramides by weight — and the gradual decline in ceramide synthesis with age is one of the primary reasons skin becomes drier, less elastic, and more prone to environmental sensitivity over time.*
How plant ceramides support skin from within — Glucosylceramides from rice are structurally similar to the ceramide precursors in human skin.
