The MMC and SIBO — why motility matters
The Migrating Motor Complex (MMC) generates a wave of muscular contractions (the "intestinal sweep") that migrates from the stomach through the small intestine approximately every 90–120 minutes during fasting periods, clearing undigested food debris, mucus, and bacteria. Impaired MMC function is one of the primary predisposing factors for SIBO — reduced MMC activity allows bacteria to accumulate in the small intestine rather than being swept distally.*

Vitamin B6 as Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate (P-5-P, 15mg, 882% DV) — The active coenzyme form of B6 — not standard pyridoxine HCl — chosen specifically because P-5-P operates directly as the cofactor for aromatic amino acid decarboxylase (AADC), the rate-limiting enzyme that converts 5-HTP to serotonin. Without adequate P-5-P activity, 5-HTP cannot be efficiently converted to serotonin in the enterochromaffin cells of the intestinal mucosa. At 882% DV, this provides robust P-5-P activity to ensure maximal 5-HTP → serotonin conversion for MMC activation.*
L-5-Hydroxytryptophan 98% from Griffonia simplicifolia seed (75mg per serving) — At 98% purity and 75mg, this is a high-dose, high-purity 5-HTP selected for its role in supporting normal intestinal serotonin production.*
